Neurowild Cognition
Weird is normal.
"Normal" just means statistically common. Historically, prior to the domestication and mechanization of the wild human animal under the guise of "civilization," neurodiversity was normal. Every culture had a common set of tendencies, styles, forms, genres of thought and communication, yes, but they were all unique and distinct from other cultures. We're talking thousands upon thousands upon thousands of unique cultures. Through the era of colonial empire, this diversity has been increasingly homogenized and standardized. This is the mechanical imperative at the core of the Megamachine.
All kids are gifted (Sherri Mitchell quote). We just live in a society that values and subsidizes certain types of intelligence, communication, creativity, expression, etc. and neglects or actively represses other types. And why? It's all about the economic efficiency of the machine metabolism. If it serves the Megamachine, it is valued. If it doesn't, it is suspect at best, marginalized and declared an enemy at worst.
"Every person is recognized as partaking in the creative force. Every person can make pottery – can coil, can polish, can fire. That is the way. The creative force is non-discriminating. It does not choose only a few people to be geniuses, it embraces all."

"So much of what we call abnormality in this culture is actually normal responses to an abnormal culture. The abnormality does not reside in the pathology of individuals, but in the very culture that drives people into suffering and dysfunction."
